M’mbelwa District Council has assured residents and contractors that it will uphold transparency and fairness in awarding of project contracts to successful bidders under the Reformed K5 billion Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The council’s director of finance Robert Ziba said this on Monday during a public opening of bids for projects in Mzimba District.

Ziba said the council’s evaluation team will select contractors based on their eligibility and suitability of their bids for the respective projects.
“The council will not favour any contractor in the process as our priority is to ensure that projects delivered in the district meet the required quality standards,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the contractors, Frank Mazizi of Sadebcogems Construction and Gwamba Investments said they are confident that the evaluation process will result in the selection of the most suitable contractors.
He said the public opening of bids demonstrates the council’s commitment to transparency in the procurement process.
Mzimba Perekezi Constituency Development Committee chairperson Christopher Melele described the bid opening as free, fair and transparent.
“This is one of the recommended core principles in open contracting where contractors are able to see and appreciate the opening of bids,” he said.
